Fifteen years ago there was a call for representation of the Mexican populous in the Newark community. It was answered by a young woman who founded the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Newark Memorial. Though she went on to work in other areas the group proved to flourish. It has thrived and also suffered through temultuous times, but always continued forward. Today the students are more involved than ever and appear to be thriving again. Currently, it is supported by the students and some faculty, in particular Carla Collins. THe group is currently under the direction of Steven J. KoneffKlatt.
